WHY NAWBO-INDIANAPOLIS?

The goal of NAWBO - Indianapolis is to motivate, inspire, and inform its members and to assist them in introducing their products and services to the public and private business sector. Members realize the benefits of networking with local and national members, educational opportunities, public policy representation and local, national, and international affiliations.

After joining NAWBO, your name and business information will be posted not only on the Indianapolis website, but on the National NAWBO website for people to search for various products and services. The benefits are endless!

NAWBO DEFINITION OF A BUSINESS OWNER:

A business owner must be a sole proprietor, commissioned agent, broker, independent contractor, shareholder in a corporation or consultant that:

  1. is established as either a sole proprietor or self-employed, or is a partner in a Partnership, LLC or is an officer of a 'C' Corporation or 'S' Corporation AND
  2. files a schedule C or F, received IRA Tax form 1099 form clients or files corporate or partnership tax returns.
  3. In addition, the business owner must maintain an office (including home offices) or a business facility and must be involved in the policy-making process and overall day-to-day management of the business.

If the statements above does not apply then consider membership under the "supporting member" category.

Membership in NAWBO is recorded in the name of the individual, not the organization.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES AND DUES:

Membership dues vary depending on how you register with the National Organization. In addition to the national dues, there is an annual membership fee for the Indianapolis chapter and a $25 processing fee for all new and lapsed members. Membership to NAWBO is in the name of the individual not the company. There is currently no category available for company/organizations. If you are interested in benefits that will apply to all associates in your company please consider corporate partnership.

Established Business Owner
A business owner who has been in business for more than two years and owns a percentage of their company. A regular voting category, member receives all communications and publications, are eligible for all discounts and benefits, receive member pricing at local events and are listed in the annual director.

$150 National  + $100 Local = $250

Emerging Business Owner
For a new business owner (in business for two years or less). A non-voting category limited to two years, members receive all communications and publications, are eligible for all discounts and benefits, receive member pricing at local events, and are listed in the annual directory.

$100 National +  $100 Local = $200

Supporting Member (This chapter is currently not accepting applications for this category)
Someone who subscribes to the objectives of NAWBO and wishes to lend support to NAWBO through membership. Members in this classification shall not constitute more than 10% of the voting membership of a chapter. Individuals applying for membership in this category must submit their applications directly to the Indianapolis chapter for approval (P.O. Box 20120 Indianapolis, IN 46220). Any application directly received by the national office will be returned to the membership applicant. Category not available online.

$150 National  + $125 Local = $275

Student Member
Someone who is a student registered full time at a school or university, who subscribes to the objective of NAWBO and intends to start a business.
 

$100 National + $100 Local  = $200

Retired Member 
Someone who was a Chapter or At-Larger member of NAWBO for at least five years and has sold, divested their interest, or is no longer in their business. A member in this classification shall have one vote

At-Large Member
Someone whose business and residence are not located within a Chapter’s organization territory, and who is an individual, partner or stockholder who exercises the power to make policy decisions and is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the firm. A member in this classification has one vote and is under the supervision of NAWBO. All voting members must belong to a chapter of NAWBO if one exists in their area.

$170 National + $100 Local  = $270

Sustaining Member
A business owner as defined in the NAWBO Policies and Procedures and is a Chapter Member or an At-Large Member who wishes to support the organization in a larger monetary way and gain additional benefits.

$300 National + $100 Local  = $400

DUES UPDATE!

In order to continue providing ever-increasing benefits and higher quality services, NAWBO National will increase its dues effective January 1, 2008. Membership fees will increase $50 for new members from $100 to $150, with no administration fee. For renewing members, the fee will increase by $25 increments over the next two years. In 2008, renewing members will pay $125 and in 2009, renewing members will pay $150.

Renewing members have the opportunity to lock in their current national dues rate for the next two years by joining or renewing between October 1 and December 31, 2007. After this two-year period, the national member rate will increase to $150.

You can easily join NAWBO by one of two methods:

Applications sent by mail may take up to 2 weeks to process. If you choose to mail in your payment please send your contact information and a copy of your payment to the chapter administrator (jodi@nawboindy.org) for faster inclusion into our database.
