TRACEY BRAME
Title/Company: President/West Point Financing
[posted February 2010]

Being a part of NAWBO-Indianapolis positively affected my bottom line. I own West Point Financing, an equipment leasing and commercial real estate financing company. I talked to various people with the city of Indianapolis numerous times about starting a new finance program. I did not meet the right people on my own.
Attending a NAWBO-Indy networking event with various departments from the city of Indianapolis opened doors. I met people that embraced my ideas because they and their internal customers stood to benefit greatly from working with West Point Financing. They in turn helped me meet the right decision makers. Together we enacted a $49.5M plan for multiple departments. This contract is a powerful testimony for West Point Financing's future. It is also a meaningful example of NAWBO-Indy's positive influence and support.

I recently attended the monthly NAWBO luncheon . . . Carol (Schwachenwald, President of Integrity) was asked to give the Member Presentation before the corporate and keynote presentations . . . It is definitely a different environment for me to be at an event like this. I was one of only three men in the room. And, of course, we were initially drawn to each other. But I didn’t stay cornered for long and tried to get around to meet as many people as possible. I have attended a handful of events hosted by NAWBO, and I am continuously impressed with the members that I meet. NAWBO members have an incredible entrepreneurial spirit. I love the conversations I have with each member and am always challenged.

. . . I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for making me feel welcome on the (Trailblazers 2009) committee. Even more important, how empowering it felt to be surrounded by women that held each other accountable and then delivered. I’ve only been a member of NAWBO-Indy for nine months and we need to find a way to show prospects how motivating it is to be surrounded by people like you.

As a young business owner of Yuspie, LLC (Young, urban single professionals of Indiana), I am lucky to have many mentors--both women as well as business owners. Billie Dragoo I consider one of them, and she is a great woman to many. The most recent opportunity that Billie aligned for me (as she is a promoter of women and minorities in all realms, including business), came through her work on serving the NAWBO National board. Through her experience at NAWBO National, she had the opportunity to meet Sarah Sladek, who is owner of Limelight Generations, author of several books, and also on the NAWBO National board. Sarah's latest endeavor is a one-day conference called Rock Stars at Work, where her company through this conference and awards luncheon, will be promoting, supporting, and honoring companies in the greater Minneapolis area who are recruiting and retaining generations X, Y and Z in the workplace.
As soon as she met Sarah, Billie recommended that I connect with her, since Sarah and I both share a passion for elevating and supporting the next generations of the workforce.

As a result of attending a monthly luncheon in 2006, I joined NAWBO. I had just taken over my father's business and welcomed the enthusiasm, support and inspiration that came from meeting other women business owners. It has also led to opportunities, information, contacts and leads for my business.

On behalf of IA Services Inc., we are very grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to our company by joining NAWBO. IA Services Inc. joined NAWBO December 2007. Since we joined our business has really taken off. I encourage you to attend the events that NAWBO has put together for networking opportunities. Networking does work, but you have to put fourth the effort to make these events and be ready to network. Referrals are booming and so is business. I would like to thank the sponsors for making it possible for the Women of Indiana to be position to do business in the corporate world. Women of NAWBO are well known in the state of Indiana and corporations will do business if you have your business well organized and attend events that they have offer. These events are set-up for you to introduce your businesses as well as yourself. Be ready at all times to talk about your business and have a vision of where you are planning to take your business now and in the future. Ladies, NAWBO does work if you take the time to attend the luncheons and events. I know because it has worked for IA Services Inc.
