JOIN A CHAPTER COMMITTEE

All chapter members and corporate partners are welcome and encouraged to get involved. No matter how much time you have to devote, we can find something that will match your interests. Whether it’s an hour a month or assistance with a specific program or event, your help will be appreciated and acknowledged. Best of all, you and your business will benefit from the new contacts you make both within and outside NAWBO-Indianapolis.

To become a committee member, download a Committee Involvement Form and return it to the Chapter Administrator via e-mail or fax to (317) 245-9343.

Upon receipt of your Committee Involvement Form, the Committee Chair of which you have indicated interest will be notified. You should receive contact from that Chair within two weeks of receipt of your form. If you do not receive communication within two weeks, please inform the Chapter Administrator.

ANNUAL AWARDS AND HOLIDAY LUNCHEON
The Annual Awards and Holiday Luncheon Committee assists in the planning of the premier event of NAWBO-Indy. With 800+ in attendance, this continues to be the BIGGEST event for the chapter. It takes a team of volunteers to help make this event a success. This committee is divided into several sub-committees:

  • Design/Print Materials
  • Dignitaries/Media
  • Entertainment
  • Event Sponsorship
  • Program Advertising
  • Exhibit Tables
  • PR (pre- and post-event)
  • Registration
  • Sales

COMMUNICATIONS
The Communications Committee is charged with evaluating the organization’s total value-proposition: our products, our services, the people we serve and how we serve it. Their goal is to create capacity. The committee intends to meet every other month to assess the chapter's position in the market and strategies to improve or enhance other NAWBO-driven activities. Members of the committee enjoy thinking outside of the box and strategic marketing initiatives. Amongst the areas in which this committee focuses include:

  • Articles: coordinating and assisting in submissions for tracking local and regional award programs in order to afford recognition to NAWBO-Indy members.
  • Awards: writes, tracks, coordinates and/or recruits authors for articles to be written by or about NAWBO-Indy members.
  • Community Outreach: sending thank you notes, congratulatory notes, and condolences to community members, NAWBO-Indy members and corporate partners.

CORPORATE PARTNERS (this committee is currently full)
The Corporate Partners Committee is dedicated to recruiting new corporate partners. Equally important is making sure our Corporate Partners are happy and receiving all the benefits we offer to them. Members of the committee communicate regularly with each representative of our Corporate Partners.

EDUCATION & TRAINING (this committee is currently full)
The Education & Training Committee is charged with providing educational programs and resources that support the business growth and profitability of NAWBO-Indy members. This committee identifies and monitors the education needs of members in addition to facilitating the development of educational and training programs.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
The Government Affairs Committee provides oversight and support of NAWBO-Indy members as it relates to local, state and federal initiatives for women business owners. Its focus is to:

  • Monitor and review codes, ordinances and legislation which directly impacts women business owners.
  • Communicate with elected officials and policy makers regarding issues impacting women business owners.
  • Formulate and advocate for needed change.
    Educate members about current issues, new laws, regulatory and administrative matters.

MEMBERSHIP
The Membership Committee heads up creative efforts to grow membership, enrich member experience and reach current members to keep them involved in ways that offer business value. This committee works hard to indentify women business owners who will strengthen and contribute to the chapters' growth. It is integral in welcoming new members to the chapter each month. The Membership Committee responsibilities include:

  • Identifying needs and perceptions of members and prospects.
  • Recommending policies, procedures and strategies for enhancing membership.
  • Recommending means for making prospective and current members aware of the resources, services and membership benefits of NAWBO on the national and chapter levels.
  • Developing and implementing initiatives to recruit new members and retain current members.
  • Recommending ways to acknowledge new members and encourage participation in NAWBO-Indy activities.
  • Connecting new members to current members to strengthen business relationships.

TRAILBLAZERS: A WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP PANEL
The Trailblazers Committee assists in the planning of the second largest event hosted by NAWBO-Indy. This committee is divided into several sub-committees:

Members Spotlight
