WHY NAWBO-INDIANAPOLIS?
The goal of NAWBO-Indianapolis is to motivate, inspire, and inform its members and to assist them in introducing their products and services to the public and private business sector. Members realize the benefits of networking with local and national members, educational opportunities, public policy representation and local, national, and international affiliations.

After joining NAWBO, your name and business information will be posted not only on the Indianapolis website, but on the national NAWBO website for people to search for various products and services. The benefits are endless!

NAWBO'S DEFINITION OF A BUSINESS OWNER

  • An individual who owns an equity interest and actively participates in a business as a sole proprietor, an active partner of a partnership or active member of a limited liability company, an independent contractor, or a 5 percent or greater shareholder in a corporation.
  • Has been a business owner for more than two (2) years.
  • Files a schedule C or F, receives IRS Tax Form 1099 from client(s), or files corporate or partnership tax returns.
  • Maintains an office (including home offices) or a business facility.
  • Is involved in the policy-making process and overall day-to-day management of the business.

APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP
Just download and complete in full the NAWBO Membership Application (.doc 261KB) and return it to the Indianapolis chapter via:

NOTE: If paying by check, checks must be made out to NAWBO (not NAWBO-Indianapolis). Memberships paid by check take a minimum of two weeks to process.

APPLICIATION APPROVAL PROCESS
Upon receipt of a completed Membership Application, the applicant will receve a confirmation e-mail. The application is then forwarded to the Membership Review Panel. Following their review and upon their recommendation, the application is forwarded to the board of directors for final approval, which is decided upon at the next scheduled board meeting typically held on the first Wednesday of every month. Following that meeting, applicants are notified by NAWBO-Indy regarding their membership status. This process should be completed within 30 days of receipt of the application. Until a decision is reached, applicant's membership status is listed as PENDING.
