A federal jury awarded $10.6 million to a former DJ in Detroit who alleged that management discriminated against her after she complained that a co-worker's perfume was making her sick.  Who thought that perfume would cost a company $10.6 Million!  What is going on in your company?

HR Alternative Consulting, Inc. was established in 2002 to assist small to medium size businesses with their human resource needs. Business owners wear multiple hats and sometimes are not aware of the continuing changes in employment laws. We provide you with the stand-alone services you need. We work with you to identify areas that need to be developed or improved, and then help implement the right programs, whether you are a company of two or 500.

HR Alternative Consulting provides a variety of services including up-to-date employment policies. We develop employee handbooks, policy and procedure manuals, job analysis and job descriptions to identify/delegate responsibilities and determine if your company is in compliance with state and federal employment regulations.

We help with employment and staffing by providing on-site applicant screening and interviewing, develop employee referral and incentive programs and evaluate turnover issues. 

We also help with the development of a HR department for your organization. We assist with employee relation issues, including sexual harassment, discrimination, FMLA and ADA. Or, if you already have a human resource professional, we can evaluate or maximize the effectiveness of your HR department.

We understand the demands and time it takes to maintain a healthy and happy work force.  That is why we also provide the option of on-call and on-site HR services for small to medium size organizations.

About the President
Ann Fisher has many years of human resource experience in the manufacturing, service, media, hospitality and hospital industries.  Ann began her human resource career as a Staffing Specialist with the Westin Hotel and most recently as Vice President of Organizational Development for a specialty hospital. 

Ann received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in Psychology and a master’s degree from Purdue University in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  Ann is WBE certified and is a member of the following organizations:

  • The Human Resource Association of Central Indiana
  • The Society of Human Resource Management
  • The National Association of Women Business Owners
